Pilgrimage to Seattle

Postby SpinMeRoundRollMeOvr » Sun Aug 05, 2012 8:57 am

I am trekking out to Seattle for my first time next weekend. I'm hoping to do a bit of PJ-oriented sight seeing while I am there. Of course, I have love for all Seattle music (Soundgarden, Nirvana, etc).

Easy Street Records is definitely on the list. Is the Off-Ramp still in existence?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Also, if you have any suggestions of non-music things/places to hit in Seattle, I'd also greatly appreciate it!

If you are a fan, you will see places they have played on every corner. The Showbox, Crocodile Cafe, etc. Definitely check out Benaroya Hall. I went last summer for the first time for the Vedder shows and it was awesome. I also liked Silver Platters I think it was called. It was a record shop and had lots of old show bills and stuff for seattle bands.

I'm going to be there the following weekend - August 17 through 19...and was wondering the same thing.

I've found the Nirvana exhibit at the EMP Museum, and was planning to hit Easy Street Records as well, so thanks for the additional hints! And thanks to the OP for saving me from doing the same thing next Sunday :D

I'd go visit the Hendrix Memorial in Renton, was just there last week. The old stone was in Singles so it's kind of PJ related.

If you go to the Hendrix Memorial make sure to turn around and you will also see Bruce Lee's memorial. I can't tell you how many people have told me of going to either one but not realizing that the other was right next to it.

All of this is so much help. While I am clearly excited about all of the PJ sites, this trip is also to explore Seattle as my next potential home. I am in my last year of medical school and am trying, with every ounce of my being, to end up at UW in Seattle.
