FINALLY- some common-sense climate science.

Politics, current events - reasoned debate and discussion - we can all learn something new.

FINALLY- some common-sense climate science.

Even if you don't believe in climate change and global warming, is there any denying that if we don't take care of our earth, she won't take care of us? Call it what you want but if you dump poison on the land and in the waters then what do we eat and drink? We can't live like that so call it self-preservation instead of climate change. I have found that it is far easier to convince people to do some of these things if we couch it in terms of what they find important. Does it matter if we call it clmate change? No, what matters is that we begin protecting our natural resources so they are there for us later - so we can live.
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

I can't view the video but Im guessing this is about the new NC law about using historical figures as a means for predicting sea level rises and outlaws the more accurate models?

That is correct. The idea is that instead of using the projected rise in sea level they've decided to use the rise as measured over the last 100 years. Colbert say's something like: that like saying instead of projecting how old you will live, use the history of how long you've been alive- you'll live forever.

The whole thing is a ridiculous denial of what's really happening.

:fp:
I remember watching this episode a while ago. Law makers are scared of the facts and they refuse to accept the inevitable... :nono:

On a side note: I really like how well Colbert (an Stewart to) presents these news reports and simplifies them into factual entertainment that I can actually learn from.
