“I remember sitting around with John and Elaine Bond, and they said they'd be willing to put the Cobra on the Road & Track cover. That was the happiest day of my life. But it took six martinis because John and Elaine really could down those martinis at lunch.”

“I feel pretty good. I never thought I'd live this long. They told me in 1960 that I had less than five years to live.”

- Carroll Shelby

I am deeply saddened. My favorite car of all time is the 1965 Shelby Daytona Coupe.
A true bad-ass to the bone.

Hell yeah. Both the man and the car.

I have to say reading of his death, and the glorious life he lived - made for himself - the unadulterated joy he brought to so many through his designs and charity...made me teary. Seemed like a good man.

Brings this to mind-

"Unfortunately there can be no doubt that man is, on the whole, less good than he imagines himself or wants to be. Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual's conscious life, the blacker and denser it is. If an inferiority is conscious, one always has a chance to correct it. Furthermore, it is constantly in contact with other interests, so that it is continually subjected to modifications. But if it is repressed and isolated from consciousness, it never gets corrected." -Carl Jung

Often people attempt to live their lives backwards; they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want, so they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want. ~Margaret Young

I like that. It goes a long way.
We should be kind... not because we feel we have to... but, because it is right. Not to just the ones we love... but, to everyone. I know, sometimes it is hard... and sometimes it's impossible.
I always like the little bumper sticker saying from the Breast Cancer Walks... 'Humankind. Be Both.'

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."
