serously? i was thinking the exact opposite, and not that your a bad mother either...not a fan of either but will never influence my child expressing what they like or dislike regardless of what my opinion is. Up until 8 years old a child only does shit for approval from their parents, i'd be a little embarassed if my 7 year old was singing a pj tune, as much as i dig them.

i'm sure you are a cool mother aside from this and this is just my opinion and what the fuck do i know.

Oh your job is just beginning, trust me. Mine (just turned 18) likes Pearl Jam, but also plenty of other music and genres of music - before you know it they'll be grinding to My Neck and Pimp Juice at their high school dances. (I speak from experience) But the good thing about having shared music (esp. Pearl Jam) (I have taken her with me to see Pearl Jam since she was 8), is you get that time together and at least have a few hours where they don't hate you the way teens tend to do when they are about 13-14. She has been with me to over 20 Pearl Jam shows, and the other good thing is she knows how to handle herself at shows way better than a lot of adults. So keep up the good work but know that he WILL branch out and discover other music and it may not be what you like heh.

Lucky you!

My 15 year old absolutely hates them. Took him to see them live when he was 13, he said it was the worst 5 hours of his life (we were at HRC).

I can agree with this. Although I wouldn't be embarassed if my kid was singing music I listened to all of the time. I would be amused and realize that maybe I should be exposing my kid to more of a variety of music

Awesome story!!

Sharing music between parents and their children can be a truly amazing connection. When I was 13, my father died. He listened to all kinds of music, but mostly rock. He had a vinyl collection of over 1,000, and he exposed me to bands from Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Springsteen, Jimmy Reed, Chuck Barry, Buddy Holly, Van Halen, The Charlie Daniels Band etc...He used to come into my room looking for his records all the time!

Now, music is one the strongest ties that binds us together, for everytime I hear one of our songs, or hear a new tune that I think he would have liked, I smile broader and sometimes shed a tear. He would have LOVED PJ if he were here. I'm sure wherever he is, he's listening to PJ through me!

Cheers!
