He played 8 of the 13 tracks off his solo album. I missed On and On and On but I can't complain. Every song sounded spectacular. Loved the new take on some old songs. I honestly think this is a cant miss show for any music lover this year. I wish I could make one of next months shows in NYC.

I honestly didn't think he was gonna do Raconteurs and Dead Weather stuff. I thought a few White Stripes songs, but it was still awesome. Hopefully this comes out on DVD/Blu Ray :D

I thought it was kind of weird having a full band for White Stripes songs. I remember when Jack said he'd never play those songs with anyone but Meg. But I guess if he and Meg are never going to play again, may as well branch out and experiment. Its still just really odd to me though. There was just something about the red and white two piece duo that just seemed so spontaneous and electrifying live, like you just never knew what was going to happen because it was so stripped down and allowed no room for error. It's an entirely different sound now. Gone from two people to like 20, haha. He's also said that he never plays Fenders and Gibsons because they were too easy to play. Now he's rocking that blue Fender Telcaster. Don't get me wrong, thats a kick ass guitar..just shows he's definitely making a lot of changes that have gone against his previous beliefs. I guess outside of the White Stripes he's played Gretsch guitars quite a bit.

Did anyone catch the Colbert Report the other night where he played 'Freedom at 21'? I thought that was a killer performance. Very nice soloing. And that male drummer is fun to watch, he really clicks.

Jealous as all hell you were at this show... Watched the stream, incredible. How do YOU think his show compares to an EV show? So different I know, but your thoughts?

Wow great question. They are my two favorite artists in the world and have been for quite some time. The shows are so different like you said. I would say both play to their strengths perfectly. Eddie keeps it simple and differentiates his shows from PJ shows, while Jack goes for more of a country feel. Both shows are extremely entertaining and I couldn't put one above the above. I have to think about this one some more.

His show in L.A. was incredible last night. I'd never seen him live with any of his other bands so I have no basis for comparison, but this band he's assembled for his solo tour definitely holds its own (He only played with the girls in L.A.) I like how he fleshed out the WS songs with a full band and the new material sounds great live. Best thing about it was that the crowd was super into it, singing along with almost every song and Jack seemed to be loving it.
I can't wait for him to come back at the end of the month on his proper tour. I've got tickets to one night but I have to find a way to go both nights. So awesome.
