Keith's guitar work on Sympathy for the Devil is probably some of his best live and most aggressive ever. I have the Sister Morphine boot of this show and I really can't see how the Stones themselves could improve on this.

That sounds good, but with only 3 releases left in the series (though maybe if the sales are going well there will be more) we still don't have a Brian Jones era release. Plus I'm holding out hope for El Mocambo '77 and any of the Australia '73 shows since Back Strap Jacket is my favorite boot. The Perth show would be great, or preferably Perth and Sydney like on the bootleg.

Just finishing up Sympathy With The Devil. Definitely on par with Brussels Affair.

Yeah, it's a pretty good version. To me (unless something else changes with a future release) the best version of SFTD will always be the one on "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out", and then after that the version on "The Rolling Stones Rock And Roll Circus" which is pretty close to the studio recording.

Supposedly Jesse Ed Davis is playing on the L.A. Friday track, so there are 3 guitars.

What's a couple of good Stones fansites and message boards to check out regarding all these stuff?

I'm a member of Shidoobee (one of the premiere Stones fans sites). Set up much like this one and many PJ fans there also.

I've heard Shidoobee is good. I'm a member at IORR (I'ts Only Rock N' Roll for those that don't know) at http://www.iorr.org/. The people over there are knowledgeable, I just don't like the way the forums are laid out. There are basically 3 forums. One for trading stuff, another for trading tickets, and then the main board. Since they don't have a board for off-topic stuff (like AMT or AET here) the area that is essentially The Porch is a mixture of everything on and off topic. The guy who runs the site is apparently kind of stuck in his ways and refuses (in spite of many requests from the members) to change it. Or he says he refuses, he might just not be able to, I don't know. There is usually more on topic stuff than off topic stuff though, so it's not THAT bad. It could just be organized better.

There are a crapload of bootlegs and soundboard recordings over there just ripe for the taking though. Some of them are put in the main board, some in the trading board. If you're looking for a specific show or want some suggestions they'll load you down with more stuff than you can hope to getting around to listening to. When I first joined I asked if anybody had the Ft. Worth '97 show, they dug up 3 different version of it for me. A soundboard, an audience recording, and an unofficial bootleg with some bonus tracks. This could probably be said for Shidoobee also though. The Stones trading community is large and active.

Mick Jagger to host the season finale of SNL on May 19th.

Mick and The Stones have been on SNL many times, and Mick has participated in several sketches, but this will be his first stint as host.

Wednesday night (or Thursday morning depending on your time zone and how you look at it) Mick Taylor will be performing with The Roots on Jimmy Fallon. :D Brooklyn Decker is also a guest if you need some sex appeal to force you to watch/DVR it. Come for the Decker, stay for the Taylor.

Wow, Howard Stern really gave Mick a hard time. I mean he was nice too and called him one of the greatest guitarists ever and stuff like that, but he also gave him a lot of shit over his decision to quit The Stones.

Also nice to hear Mick playing a little "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" with The Roots. Sounded a lot better than the recent versions The Stones have played.

I had heard that the band was in NYC doing some rehearsals, but hadn't heard they were rehearsing for SNL. Just Jagger is listed as the musical guest, but this would be a nice surprise. I haven't been reading the Stones boards much the past week or two so it's very possible I've missed this. But that would make sense.

Taylor is also in New York... I've been waiting for the right moment to use this smilie... :corn:
