Hey, I'm not trying to derail the thread but are you really in Phnom Penh? I was there in 1997 and went out to Siem Reap and visited Ankgor Wat. Amazing country and people. Tulong Song was tough as hell but had to go. Felt obligated and man was it an eye opener. Some folks have not a clue. To hear the stories from our tour guides makes me shudder thinking about it. And the juxtaposition of the past with driving out to the airport to fly to Siem Reap at 4:00 a.m. and looking out the bus window to see a silverbacked baboon riding on the trunk of a Mercedes like he belonged there, with the wind whipping through his fur and him all non-chalant like what are you looking at? Crazy but I'd love to go back and I still stay in touch with our tour guide from Ankgor, Maray Seng. He raised crocodiles for export, taught English and was a hired tour guide for the temples of Ankgor. Amazing place.

Peace.

Hey. Yep, Im living in Phnom Penh! Been here since September, and will be here for another year or so, on a Fulbright working on my dissertation. Wish I could have seen in in 1997! Its blowing up huge. I was here in 2005, and just since then it is TOTALLY different. Its been very very interesting living here full time as opposed to just visiting. Some things are great, and sometimes you really just wish you were home, but overall its been a wonderful experience. I tried to get Tim to get the boys to come play a show here, but Im not sure that's gonna happen, seeing they won't even play the South. But if it does, come on down!

Obama has absolutely done the best he can with what he was given and with the opposition he's faced. No one could have done better under such circumstances. Back to the subject, my understanding is that EV doesn't "officially endorse" Obama for whatever reason (too busy? Other causes on the plate right now?), but obviously supports the Democrats, and wants Obama to win. The problem may lie in the fact that Obama's good intentions are rendered almost useless, because his opposition cares more about thwarting anything he tries to do rather than working to improve anything. Maybe Eddie feels like government has become totally ineffective as everyone fights for power rather than anything good for the country.

PS - the US health care system makes me sick. I'm Canadian, and I can assure that a person has NEVER lost their home or gone bankrupt because they got cancer, and NO ONE dies because they can't afford the medical treatment they need. Any healthcare system that can't claim that is an atrosity. I cannot) understand any person who is against universal healthcare, as someone who lives under that system and thanks god for it everyday. Obama stands for that, and as far as I'm concerned, anyone who doesn't values money over human life.

Very wise words

And high gas prices? This continues to make me chuckle .... Petrol is 40% in the states what it is here in the uk. You guys pay 50p equivalent a litre. In fact a touch less. We are. Or hitting £1.45 a litre. In real terms that's over $10 a gallon.

Sure your country is massive ... Your shops are 30 miles apart blah blah but at least your roads tend to move.

from the outside looking in, it always baffles me that America has such a short memory. Obama didn't invent or create the current economic/employment/overseas combat woes you guys are currently experiencing. He inherited it from the previous President and his administration and due to their lack of foresight, Obama's now the bad guy trying to clean it all up and getting the shit for it.

he's the best president and ambassador for your country there's been since possibly Kennedy. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy and I think he's doing his best for you guys but it's like a tough love thing. there's a lot of stuff allowed go to shit by previous administrations. it shouldn't fall on the guy who wants to change it for wanting to make sure it can't happen again. 4 years isn't enough to fix it either.

oh and socialism isn't a bad thing, don't understand the fear of that either. If the rich can pay, well they should pay. And the same health and education should be available to every citizen. What's so bad about that idea I just can't fathom.

I agree with all the above. I think America expected Obama to change the World overnight and because its not happened he has failed. He's a much better President than Dubya. End of.

Get rid of electoral college
Get campaign contributions under control

Those two things would make the process so much better

The amount of money it takes to win is obscene.

I'm sure Eddie will be supporting Obama. Will he be as vocal about it as in 2008, maybe not? I don't see any other candidate for him to throw his support behind. He's certainly not going to support a Republican and there is no viable third party candidate (Roseanne Barr  ).
