Cover Songs, your Favorite

Postby Smoke In A Tree » Mon Jan 30, 2012 1:34 pm

It seems that everytime I hear PJ do a new cover I always think to myself that they play it better then the original artist. Right now I can stop playing the cover of Mother from the Jimmy Fallon show, the show was months ago but I can't stop playing it. With that said what is your favorite cover song that PJ has played?

I just have to jump in and say that Eddie singing this has nothing on Floyds version but I do like it all the same.

The cover I most enjoy is Jeff Buckley doing Strange Fruit.

It's Ok by Dead Moon is my favourite :)
Many bands have covered Rockin In The Free World but I think only PJ can top the original.

Masters of War from the Bob Dylan tribute still is the best imo, but I love hearing Eddie sing "The Ship Song." It's so surprising, and I love Nick Cave.

I agree on masters of war. I must have played that song 500 times in the car back in the day. We'd sing our heads off with all the windows down. He really belts them out in that version. Once we were mid-singing at the top of our lungs and some guy pulled up next to us and joined in. He drove off when the light turned green and just yelled 'edddiiiieeeeee'...I will never forget that. Funny what we remember.

I Won't Back Down by Tom Petty is up there, the version from The Gorge sticks out in my mind. Also Let My Love Open the Door from the mid 90s. 8-)
