Are the RHCP as bad live as every one says?

wow - i don't like what i'm reading! and i'm about to purchase tix this morning! but i will say i was undecided about the foo fighters and i didn't go but my son did and said it was awesome and i've regretted it ever since. if i don't get this tix i know i'll regret it so i guess i'm gonna go $150 deeper in the hole! they're $62.50 in philly plus the annoying fees.

Foo Fighters are about the most consistent band out there, I've never seen a shit show from them. RHCP have been very hit and miss in my experience - the last time I saw them was at a festival in 2007 and I left after about 15 minutes, really disappointing.

i love their albums, and i also think they're one of the band to chalk of your list, but i've had several chances to see them live, but never bothered, because i've heard too much bad things about them live, so the only way i'd go see them live if they where at a festival with other good bands so i'd feel like i wasn't wasteing my money, but thats just me, you decide for yourself mate.

Not the best show on the planet, but worth seeing.

Saw them on the Stadium Arcadium tour and thought the show was good but nothing great
Considering seeing them this time around but not having any luck getting through for tix right now...they weren't great enough for me to stress about this, if I get a tix great, if not, oh well

Perfectl review and my thoughts exactly! And like another post said, they're pretty "hit-or-miss" in the few times I've seen them. Light show was good, but a very pre-packaged show. They sold out here and had to move the show back to September, so no worries that I didn't grab tix this time around.

For Ottawa, tickets were a breeze! Grabbed 3 in the first section over from the stage in about a minute!

I got 2 tix for philly yesterday during the radio presale. I got on right away and somehow the best seats I pulled were like middle of the arena lower level middle-ish row. Not bad at all but I expected a little better but I guess thanks to brokers and stubhub that doesn't happen anymore.

ANYWAY I saw them in Pittsburgh back for the by the way tour. They were good, not great. Setlist was good enough and the energy was there but a lot of the energy was from John who is now gone. Anthony doesn't do or say much, flea is in his own little world, but John and Chad really rocked. I am not sure how I feel now without John but I guess I will find out in May. Their setlist didn't include much older stuff other than the big hits, but I know that was because John never liked his playing on the old albums and didn't want to play them, so I'm curious if they will break out anything else now without him.

Saw them a couple times when they toured on Californication and By the Way and thought they were pretty good. I'm not a huge fan, so I can't say I was blown away, but by no means would I say they were bad. If you haven't seen them live, I'd say they're worth checking out and crossing off the list.

I've seen them live, and they are not bad at all. Who ever thinks that must be nuts. They are full of energy and Anthony gives it all. ...according to the youtube videos from South America tour last year...they still got it HOT!

tried to get tix for the Newark show and didn't have luck on the presale. hope i score for the public sale tomorrow.

I saw them twice on the 2000 tour with Foo Fighters, and haven't seen them since, but I'm going to the Louisville show this year. In 2000, the first show I saw ended with an incoherent instrumental jam and most of the crowd shuffled out with a bad taste in their mouths (though the rest of the show up to that point was solid), but the second show--to a smaller crowd, partially because it was on the 4th of July and partially because it was only 75 miles from where the other show had been three months earlier--was lively, and ended with their high-energy cover of Hendrix's "Fire."

I would say they're worth seeing at least once. They may not knock your socks off, but "not that good live" doesn't mean they come out stumbling drunk and can't play their songs or anything. They're still a tight band.
