Was lucky enough to be in Sao Paulo on business and was able to extend my stay to see the show. It was my 13th show dating back to 1993 and I've never seen the band in better form. Eddie was at his absolute best (whover says his voice has lost anything needs to hear the bootleg) and the whole band was on fire. They were clearly inspired by the huge (60k?) and impassioned crowd.

The tempo was set early with the blazing first five songs. Hail, Hail in particular stood out for me, but the goosebump moments were too numerous to count.

It was an emotional experience for me to see this band that I've loved for so long at the very top of their game in front of such a massive and adoring audience. Brazil is a wonderful place and Pearl Jam is an amazing band. I was lucky to stand witness.

review of 2nd SP show from Globo:

http://glo.bo/uwwsrQ

68,000 in attendance
Ed: 'Is it OK if we play a longer show tonight?'
ended the concert with different songs than the first night
played their biggest hits in the encore

Ed: 'Sorry for my shitty Portuguese.' before introducing everyone in Portuguese
says he got a fake ID to sneak into an X show in the 70s

on to Rio, Curitiba, and Porto Alegre

68,000 in attendance, amazing!
Is this the biggest non festival crowd in the Pearl Jam concert history?

AMONGST THE WAVES was my EPIC moment for sure...

I have had the experience of a lifetime, 67k people singing my favorite bands songs is just surreal... I'm still in awe... Effin amazing crowd!

The setlist was great, songs were put there to make everyone happy, new fans, die-hard fans and even the "last kiss and Black" fans... perfect... Of course the "no-Ten" hits really stood out for me (mainly the backspacer ones) but it was a DREAM setlist for sure :)

I think so.
“Life is life everywhere. Life is in ourselves and not outside us. There will be men beside me, and the important thing is to be a man among men and to remain a man always, whatever the misfortunes, not to despair and not to fall - that is the aim of life, that is its purpose.”
Fyodor Dostoyevsky

But what happened really? Did Ed forget the lyrics or did the entire band forget how to play it?

I don't think it was Eddie...it was like the whole band was playing a totally different tone/pitch...like much lower (than the original one, which Eddie was singing) so it kinda confused him and he turned to the band with the :?: face  but it was really fun to hear that huge crowd sing "acapella"
