And also, I drove past the Venue and into Portland on my way home from Seattle.

It's took 8 Minutes and was 9 miles w/ Light traffic to get to into Portland proper. So 15 min to downtown.

The above hotel is right downtown and seems like a bargin at $66 a night.

I live in Portland so I don't stay in hotels but people might like the Doug Fir or the Kennedy School experience. Both in 'hip' areas and have cool bars or whatnot. Just my two pennies.

how far is downtown Portland from the Airport, Im coming in on Saturday at 11am and then I have to be at the airport the next morning at 5am OUCH! Im literally just going for the show and staying less than 24 hours in Portland, I think I may be better off booking a hotel right by the airport?

What do you guys think?

From downtown to the Airport is about 13 miles. For drive time your looking at around 15-20 minutes, especially that early in the morning.

well Ill be driving probably around 4:30am ...
My flight leaves back to Miami @ 6am, I might look into some downtown hotels rather than staying by the airport, but wait! now the questions is, when you are driving back from the venue, do you go by the airport first or downtown? that may be the deciding factor on where I stay :D

Yes you would pass by the airport on your way back from the venue to downtown.

Geographically, it would be the Ampitheater which is on the North side of the Columbia River, then the Airport which is on the South side of the Columbia River and then downtown Portland.

Since you're only in town for such a short time, it may make more sense to stay by the airport. There's not a lot to do out there but you're only here for 24 hours. Plus, I would think rooms might be cheper at the airport. And you could always drive downtown if you get bored. The one nice thing about the Portland airport is that the rental cars are right on site, you don't need to take one of those rental cars buses to go pick up your car.
