I saw the RHCPs many times between 1985 and 2002, and I always loved their shows...the energy and the music were amazing, and I was happy that they were the first of several bands from my high school to make it big. It was always such a huge event when they played L.A.

However, for some reason, they lost some of their magic along the way. On the past few tours, they barely did any old songs, so, to me, it isn't worth seeing them anymore. Imagine if PJ ignored 10, Vs. and Vitalogy songs...it would still be great, but it would lack a bit, IMHO.

Saw the Foo Fighters open up for them on the 2000 tour and they blew them off the stage, almost felt sorry for them.
Having said that, they are not terrible live, just not on the level of Foos, PJ, ect.

If you're the type to go and focus on the singer I could see them being awful as he just stands there. Some of the harmonies aren't the best either and you can tell they put alot of work into them in the studio that's hard to recreate live.

Musically they couldn't be tighter. Flea and Chad are a great rhythm section and I think all the guitarists they've had can hold their own. Also, lotta energy comin from Flea and the new guitarist from what I've seen.

They could've definitely benefited from a second guitarist when I seen them in 07, but from the little I've heard of Klinghoffer he's a little better at fillin up space than Frusciante and at smoothly transitioning to the solos and back to the verse parts.

I'd go check them out again for the right price and would suggest anybody that hadn't seen them to do it.

I thought they were great. Comparing PJ live and RHCP live is like apples to Oranges. It's two different bands. They do play alot of the same setlist every night, but it seems like they have been mixing it up a little more since Josh came in. I enjoyed the Stadium Arcadium tour, and am looking forward to seeing them again in October. They do tend to do an intro and outro jam, but like I said, apples to oranges. If you've never seen them, I would say, they are worth seeing; at least once. It's another name to add to your concert resume.'

Saw them for the first time in 06 on the SA tour and I thought it was awesome. The Chili's are my second favorite band behind PJ and I was not disappointed when I saw them. Like the post above said, you can't compare the RHCP to PJ. But they are a great live band overall. I bought some great seats this morning for Boston and am looking forward to it. I am a huge fan of Frusciante and what he brought to the band. interested to see Klinghoffer play live so I can compare the two.

I saw them in 2007 w/ The Mars Volta. It was a birthday present from my sister and her husband and I was drunk as shit so I don't remember much. Sorry. :(

My hubby and I are seeing them in Memphis. The show is sold out. If you are thinking about it, I wouldn't hesitate. I think over half of the shows are already sold out. I bought tix from TM the second they went on sale. It was a nightmare. I was essentially "in line" for 30 minutes. I got kicked out (yes, apparently it is not just the PJ site) and had to get back "in line." However, I ended up with decent tickets and I am looking forward to the show. Also, many of the shows have been postponed b/c Anthony injured his foot. We were suppose to see them in Feb., not it will be April. Any other PJ fans going to the Memphis show?

i compare them to STP live. I think they are hit or miss. I've seen them 3 times. Didn't care for them twice. Then I saw them at a festival and thought they were good.

I feel the same way, with the STP comparison. I too, have seen both bands 3 times, and again i agree, they're both hit or miss.

But, i think you should go see RHCP if you never seen them before. What the hell, you ONLY live once>

I've seen them 5 or 6 times.

Thought they were awesome all but one of those times.

But the 1 time was one of the worst shows I've ever seen.

Thought the band was fine, but Kiedis was properly awful. It was made worse by the fact that James Brown opened for them and put on one of the greatest sets of live music I've ever seen.
