it was pretty awesome...lots of great intro jams, lots of energy from the band, great A/C in the venue
def a memorable 13th show for me
i will agree i didnt think they'd play so much circuital as they did in greensboro but then again its NY and they were playing to the area (thinking most ppl only kno the new stuff which most did - so they were right)

I was gonna say maybe i'm just jaded, but I've seen them 14 times which is only one more than you, so I guess can't use that argument. :) They always put on a great show, but I personally think their set lists have gotten too predictable over the past few tours. I was at their last MSG show, which was really special... granted that was NYE, but this should have been more interesting. But If you had a great time, then fuck whatever I said!

Couldn't have said it any better Mr. Olav.

Not much love for At Dawn or Tenn. Fire in that setlist.
Bermuda Highway looks like the highlight to me.
They need to start switching it up. They proved they can play all the songs in their catalog at T5, so dammit start doing it already!!

Speaking of T5 - where is the box set?!?!?!?!

I really think we're all just spoiled by the diversity of PJ's sets. These guys are still rocking the shit out of everywhere they play

Right. And they're promoting an album this year. Next year's sets will be much more diverse and full of surprises. We see this with Pearl Jam too (to a certain extent) where album promotion years are mostly standard setlists. I point to Hartford 08 for Pearl Jam and Mountain Park 10 for MMJ as non-album touring year shows where the set was all-encompassing.

I'm glad that T5 box set hasnt come out yet. Gives me time to gather enough funds to pay for it.

I think they'll definitely diversify, but I think there's also more a of a limit on how much they can swap in and out and still keep that same rockin vibe. I think some stuff from the early albums, while it fits in with the rest of their catalog, I don't think it'd be a great show flow wise.

With PJ I think they have several songs in each of a few different styles to be able to substitute a similar song. When PJ has to play a fast punky song they've got 20 tunes to choose, when they want somethin laid back and mellow 20 more, something that everybody knows 20 more etc etc. Not to say their shows are easy to predict, but they have it down to more of a formula and they have several songs that can fit into certain slots.

show was amazing. MMJ live is incredible. One of a few bands who contend with PJ live!

Don't forget Letterman tonight.

And if you don't want to be spoiled on what they are playing, don't look too hard...........

I must now concede that The Bottle was a very appropriate and cool choice... having now remembered that Gil Scott Heron passed away earlier this year, and that he was from New York.

Here's the video of that song from last night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkcG1eNQgKM
Not to forget that Brian Jackson played with them! (I didn't know this before) Good stuff!

And I'm seeing that the reviews on the MMJ board are very positive. Some of my friends who have seen them more than I have, and who were at this show, were also underwhelmed. So maybe we're spoiled. I'm in no way saying that I wouldn't have loved this show, but I've traveled pretty far to see them in the past, and I'm not sure I'd travel again. Will always see them when they come to Mass... the show they did last year in Holyoke was one of the best I've seen.

Having been on the rail all night for the show and having seen them literally 20 something times (hell, maybe more), I can honestly say that as GREAT as the show was...it wasn't even in my top 5 MMJ shows. BOH were just amazing as always too.

I was craving more older stuff in the setlist as well since I think their last two albums are their weekest (if I could take half of the songs I like from each and make one album then we're talkin). Energy wise though.....this band CANT BE BEAT!

I was about 15 people away from the stage in the West GA at MSG and while it was a great show, the set was just okay. It was my 5th time seeing them and probably my least favorite even though it was still good.
