So, I posted on this awhile ago [2004 to be more exact]...and my tastes have changed somewhat...or matured, grown, evolved, or whatever you like. I'm gonna give it another go-round, since I'm definitely in another place, and almost certainly in another state of mind. Also, it's such a great thread that hasn't been posted on since before the "avocado"...and I'm curious to know if anyone else has new favorites too?

'The waiting drove me mad...you're finally here, and I'm a mess.' -- Corduroy

'Just you and me and nothing more...if not for love I would be drowning...I've seen it work both ways, but I am up riding high amongst the waves...I can feel like I have a soul that has been saved...I can feel like I put away my early grave.' -- Amongst The Waves

'All the rusted signs we ignore throughout our lives, choosing the shiny ones instead...' -- Thumbing My Way

'You're warm with negativity, but comfort is an energy, so why let the sad song play? [fuck it]' -- Life Wasted

'I know I was born and I know that I'll die...the in-between is mine.' -- I Am Mine

'I gather speed from you fuckin' with me...' -- Rear View Mirror

'And I listen for the voice inside my head...nothing...I'll do this one myself...and the barrel waits...trigger shakes...aimed at my [fuckin'] head...won't you help me...help me from myself' -- State of Love & Trust

'Caught a bolt of lightning...cursed the day he let it go.' -- Nothingman

'See the path cut by the moon for you to walk on... See the waves on distant shores awaiting your arrival...'
&
'Dream the dreams other men, you'll be no-one's rival...dream the dreams of others then, you will be no-one's rival...' -- Unthought Known

'She said to me, over the phone...she wanted to see other people... I thought: "Well then, look around. They're everywhere." Said that she was confused... I thought: "Darlin', join the club." 24 years old, mid-life crisis...nowadays hits you when you're young...' -- I'm Still Here

'I did what I had to do, and if there was a reason...it was you.' -- Footsteps

And, like everyone else, there's about a gazillion others...so I'll leave my favorite:

'Be Sound.' -- I'm Still Here
'I wish I was a forty-foot wave, breaking on the North Shore.' -- EV

A few of mine are:

"Gnashed his teeth and bit the recess lady's breast"

"saw things clearer once you were in my rearview mirror"

"I'm the first mammal to wear pants"

"You can spend your time alone, re-digesting past regrets, Or you can come to terms and realize
You're the only one who can't forgive yourself"

"I don't want to take what you can give. I would rather starve than eat your bread"

It Takes ALL to make the song! I have watched many bands do that funny "head nodding" thing when they groove? Ed is the Smooth Voice that says everything. An interpreter? Anyone agree?

"Don't need a helmet got a hard hard head" -Remembered that one as I was just talking to somebody about helmets.

"To myself I surrenderrrrrr, to the one I'll never beeee"

"Soon Forget" - The entire song.

"He reaches for her and the water turns a red hot, woken up to be burnt burnt again" (I may have made up some words there).

And ofcourse the countless other lines that have been posted before.
If it doesn't get dirt, grease or blood under your nails, it's not a hobby.

I wish I was the verb [i]to trust[i] and never let you down.

We're all just visiting. All just breaking like waves.

I stayed where my last step left me.

Excellent selections

no longer overwhelmed and it seems so simple now

every time I get me some it gets the best of me not much left you see

I see the words on a rocking horse of time

Took one from each record. The album that speaks to me the least is Vs.

The one with the greatest collection of lyrics has to be Yield

I will stare the sun down until me eyes go blind

push me and I will resist this behaviors not unique

I want a last breath I don't let out

my small self like a book amongst the many on the shelf

He's okay but wondering about wandering

To choose just one line seems impossible, there are so many! Yet I like this simple but powerful line
It's an art to live with pain, mix the light into grey.
Nature has it's own religion, gospel from the land.
