If the Wolves give Kirilenko $20 million for two years, he's really got to live up to that. He's a worthy addition to a team, and is really versatile, but personally, I don't see $20 mil for 2 years being an acceptable price tag.

He was over paid in Utah for the last season he played here.

Aren't there other major sports that have done this? Is it any different than the Nike emblems that are already there? I kinda view it the way I view band "selling out". If it doesn't effect the product I couldn't really give a rat's ass.
Yeah, it's gonna look silly at first but I'm sure the billionaire owners are generating money doing way worse stuff.

As a Nets fan I am not too happy that they open their arena and play the Knicks in the season opener. Ticket prices are now going to be even steeper and this should be a celebration of the move to BK, but now so many Knicks fans will weasel their way in
06: Gorge 2
08: Hartford, Beacon NYC, EV NYC 1+2
09: Philly 3+4
10: Newark, MSG 1+2
11: EV NYC 1+2, Alpine 1+2
12: Philly MIA

11 shows, 11 openers:
Severed Hand, Can't Keep, Low Light, GSMF, Why Go,
Of the Girl, Sometimes, Corduroy, Release, Wash, Go

The only other sports I can think of are MLS and Arena Football.....teams that are desperate for income any way they can get it. It's one thing for teams like that to do it. But for a league like the NBA to start it is just plain greedy. Hopefully NHL, NFL, and MLB never resort to this.

Yeah, I'd rather them not do it but it doesn't bother me. I think we already knew the 4 major pro sports and the NCAA are a bunch of greedy a-holes. I don't think a 2.5"x2.5"square is gonna make me think that much less of them.

I guess I just find it unnecessary. I've been a fan of the NBA since I was a kid and I've always enjoyed a lot of NBA uniforms and do not want to see it tainted with fucking corporate bullshit, just because the owners and suitcoats of the league want some more money in their already fat pockets. Especially from companies that I could care less about. You have corporate logos and advertistements every god damn place in sports already. The court, the entire mechanism that holds the backboard and rim. The ball itself. All the advertisements within the arena. Right underneath the scorers table that is on television nearly the entire time the game is on. Then you have the copious amount of advertisements that are on during the broadcast.

If it results in less commercials during the broadcast, or even better, reduced tickets, than I can deal with it. But if it doesn't affect the already insane ticket prices, then I have a problem with it. If they're going to subject us to corporate logos that we don't give a shit about jsut to further pound it into our subconscious then I'd like to be given a break on ticket prices so I can afford to attend more than one or two games a season.

Just like people that miss the days of arenas and stadiums being called something like "The Boston Garden" or "The LA Forum", I will miss the days of uniforms that didn't have corporate logos on them right in your face. The jerseys today have Adidas logos on them, but they are on a tag at the bottom of the jersey. They aren't in plain sight, the only logo that is is the NBA's.

By the way Dewie, my post isn't attackign you, I'm attacking the idea of putting logos on jerseys. I hate the idea, and as you can tell, I hate it very much. :)

Likewise and I agree it is totally unnecessary but just like everything else it's gonna get more commercialized. I don't want it to turn into the Zatarain's Hornets or Viagra Timeberwolves but a 2" square isn't really gonna affect me watching a game too much.

Tell us how you really feel. :D

I agree with everything you said. You know there's no way this is bringing ticket prices down. Like you said, every other facet of going to an NBA game is loaded with ads, can't we just leave the jerseys alone???? It's a shame too because there are some classic NBA jerseys (Bulls, Knicks, Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, Blazers just to name a few) that are going to be ruined by a stupid fucking ad on it.

Speaking of jerseys...what is with these team USA jerseys for the Olympics??? Those are awful.
