I thought it was great. Let them have fun. They haven't had a big game in how many years? Plus, the hr derby is so boring and repetitive, that was fun to watch. He could have easily hit some hrs and shut everyone up (came close a bunch)

That also used to be a serious rivalry in the late 70s and 80s. Then there has been resentment harbored there towards the yankees due to economic matters.

agree with all this.

i think we can honestly say that royals fans have not had that much fun in probably 25 years. let them have their fun. i know plenty of people would have booed the shit out of a manny ramirez in a derby at yankee stadium.

the derby and all-star games have jumped the shark a VERY VERY long time ago. the only all-star break "festivities" i actually look forward to these days is the NHL skill competition.

how come big papi thinks its hilarious year after year, batter after batter, to run up to home plate with a gatorade bottle and a towel?
