and the massive cover-up by penn state is starting to leak out. they had files and emails about the situation. they said the one guy Curley lied to the grand jury so much that they couldn't even rebutt all the lies that there were so many. i hope all those people who defended penn state and paterno apologize at the end but i doubt they will.

but there's no way in hell i could live with myself if my job is to inflict emotional and psychological anguish on someone ... or try to get someone i know is guilty off on a technicality ... no thanks ...

I couldn't either, initially was pre-law in school, but after talking with my father who practiced for quite a few years as a defense attorney I opted out quickly. I saw his spirit slowly die over the course of my lifetime and I think a lot of it had to do with constantly defending the same people for the same things.
It isn't always a glamorous job, and people don't really respect lawyers, especially criminal defense attorneys...until they need one.
oh, kind of off topic, but Technicalities are often another word for (civil) rights. It keeps the cops honest, nothing wrong with that...if we didn't have them we would be seeing wrongful convictions all over the place.
