I was just a 7/11 for coffee and saw a woman about my age dressed very nicely,long low cut backless dress
and an old tatoo on her back and both sholders and upper breast(looked to go down lower) but the tat was old fadded black ink that I'm sure looked great back in the 80's but now it's fadded and really looked ....well not so good,
she looked at me smiled and I could see the kindness in her face and just smiled back.
well it made me think that youth is not something to burn out or abuse while we are young in most cases we live longer than we think we will and have to deal with the choices we made when we were younger.
anyway just a thought.

Godfather, I think about that type of thing too when I see the freshmen in my classes with those ear-expanding rings and nose rings and huge sleeve tattoos. Beautiful young girls NOW but I worry that these choices they've made will make it harder for them to get jobs later on. :oops: I'm such a mom to my students!! :D

I talked my son out of the BIG ear streatching hoops and just flat out said no the nose ring, I agree with you that in the future it may make it hard for these kids to get jobs and be taken seriously in their profession
but to each their own guess.

please pick yourself up off the closet floor
i tell myself

hanging up my shirts
taking down dry socks
turning the fan off
trying not to cry too much
been doing that all day
and spinning vinyl

i wanna hide out in here
in the dark
no car horns and listening ears
mine shut down recently
the carpet has told me this and many lies including my own & all our struggles

someone's stereo spins
that is me

ed (& guys) saves me again
taking my swimming suit apart
the bag

ear plugs going to need a washing soon
goggles hung up like me
swimmer's caps wet like my cravings, loves, and blood

tonight i'll nail myself to this crucifix
with hangers for winter coats and sweaters at my side
this dark hole cannot breathe without me
that i do know
no matter the swim, no matter the water drank, no matter the sun shined
this is the tomb of my days, my nights, dreams and grass of skeltons dancing for it under moonless nights
i'm left out because i am not dead yet
i'm still in this ocean
i'm still doing strokes
ed (& the guys) are still goin for it
their music is turning out in herds like falling leafs

i am grateful for the quiet days
the pleasantness that lasts is collected and used as flooring and supports for the giant walls and ceilings
all of which are stained glass and larger

so simplistic it is to relay on one's closet's flooring
for poetry through the ceiling.
