Yep, that's right folks, this thread is making a come back. The central headquarters of CORNELL LOVE! A place to let it all out...the praise, the love and the respect for one of THE most amazingly talented vocalists out there. I thought with it being JULY 20TH and all that this would be the prime time to resurrect the thread of praise while also wishing the mighty man a ~~~~~~> HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

A day to be soooo damn grateful for.


Chris Cornell...the man continues to defy age and bewilder minds. What a
gift! :o

As I always say, everything the man touches turns to gold....SOUNDGARDEN, Temple of The Dog, solo, Audioslave....the talent is unstoppable and with each and every project the voice remains simply untouchable. I heard the voice before I saw the man and I remember that feeling that came over me the first time my ears were exposed to these vocal chords...it's one that continues to come over me to this day...feeling completely STUCK and in awe. Weak in knees, heart sinks, jaw on floor, tears, chills. Reminds me of American Beauty quote "Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in" AMEN! That's how I feel about the beauty of Chris' voice sometimes. LOL! Seriously though. I mean, there really are no words that can come close to describing what happens to my body/heart/soul/mind when this man opens his mouth. How in the hell does he do it?! I can't praise it enough. This voice gets me like no other. The POWER and emotion behind it, the out of control highs, the beautiful lows, the insanely mezmerizing range - paired up with the gorgeous lyrics. The man kills me with his one liners... "eyes like oceans so far away" & "I'm sleeping in the silence of your voice" are 2 favs that come to mind. :o


This talent touches my soul! It has changed my life in a beautiful way. The power of this voice--I love how it can say so much without saying anything at all...a simple "hum" is chill inducing...songs like ZERO CHANCE, PILLOW OF YOUR BONES, STEEL RAIN, SEASONS, SUNSHOWER, WHEN I'M DOWN, PREACHING THE END OF THE WORLD, ALL NIGHT THING, GETAWAY CAR, CALL ME A DOG....forces some tears to flow just from the shear beauty of it all!! It's too much to handle.

ain't NO denying dude is **easy on the eyes** to put it lightly. :p ;) Looking AND

Another thing I'd like to praise and give props for is how completely ON IT he is these days in every single way. Overcame alcoholism, quit smoking. I mean outside as well as in, he just SHINES. Makes ya feel all proud.

Been lucky enough to see him live with SG, solo and last AS tour...the recent AS shows were more amazing than ever....I've never seen such a happy smiley Chris. He was so into it, really interacting with the crowd & band, stomping all around, just having a blast. His energy is at an all time high! And the voice?!!? Holy shit! Soundgarden days if not better! :eek: He was nailing every single note! CALL ME DOG (?!!? :o) was such a blessing. I'll say it here as well, the man seriously sounded like TOTD days if not better. He is ON IT! You can tell he is at such a great place right now and it shines through in all that he does. You can see it , you can hear it and you can definitely feel it. I'm so happy for him and oh so grateful that he is not only still sharing his gift with the world, but doing it in TIP top shape.


Out Of Exile continues to kick my ass and blow my mind. I am absolutely AMAZED by it. The band has completely defined their sound and EACH member is on FIYAH! I am LOVING this positive side of Chris shining through in all the lyrics. There is much, much SOUL POWER going on here.

I'm gonna kick start this thread of praise with a stand out fav from the new album....a song that had me hooked right from the beginnng. It is absolutely gorgeous and makes me SO happy everytime I hear it. It definitely captures the new and improved Cornell goodness. How much can you feel this love buzz? :D Ah I can't get over it. It's fuckin beeeeautiful!


CHRIS....once again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY and thank you sooooo much for all that you give and share. Amazing guitarist, untouchable vocalist, out of this world lyricist...producer, songwriter.... Looks, out of control talent, and a kick ass sense of humor to top it off. Talk about the god damn PACKAGE DEAL!

The Hitch-Hiker signin on right here with all the appreciation 'n love in the world for Mr. Chris Cornell. i remember the first time I saw him in the flesh on Audioslaves first tour.He camestrutti nout on stage with a big grin on his face and they launched into Gasoline. When he opened his mouth and those first notes came out i was fuckin blown away.

saw them again only last week at the Oxegen festival (the last date of the tour). and when he did Black Hole Sun there was an awed hush over the crowd. Amazing again.

Glad you had a good time VEDHEAD...The show was awesome. Everything said was right on, especially when I saw the Badmotorfinger banner, that was great.

Did you get stuck in traffic? Took 2 1/2 hours from San Jose, about an 1 1/2 hours once we passed Candlestick. It sucked, we walked in halfway through Seether's set (my friend really wanted to see them).

We made the mistake of going upstairs. The sound was terrible, so when we went down to the floor for the encores, we were pissed that we weren't there the whole show, it was so much better.

Traffic? Damn that sucks! We actually ended up taking BART...got there pretty early. Caught 30 Seconds to Mars (holy fuck Jared+that style+eyeliner :eek:!!) ..but anyways, I'm sure you're a guy so I'll spare ya on that. :p ;) haha. Meddledeal and I were both very impressed with their energy. They were all soooo into it. Quite infectious. A very different sound and definitely a different vibe. It really drew us in. The crowd was way disrespectful to them though imo. Jared was getting kinda annoyed with the snore-fest and at one point even jumped down INTO the front of the crowd where we all were and was singing as he walked through us all... an attempt to get some excitement flowin. He was making comments about how this wasn't a Celine Dion concert and for people to wake the fuck up. ha! We couldn't believe how incredibly lifeless everyone was. Aww he was also giving Audioslave MAJOR lovin...saying how he was honored to share the same stage with one of the "greatest bands on the planet" and how all of them were huge fans! :D FUCK YEAH! Seriously, people were really not feelin them at all though. I thought they put on a good show. It was SEETHER that was literally making me and Meddledeal yawn non-stop. :eek: Damn, sorry guys...even if the bass AND guitar player had the stickman on their instruments (thumbs up for that!)....there are 100+ bands out there that sound exactly like these guys. :rolleyes: But ANYWAYS...haha...hopefully your friend enjoyed them. The crowd was loving the shit outta them it seemed. I guess Meddle and I were the outcasts during 30 Seconds To Mars and Seether. :p But hey, we all came together for AUDIOSLAVE & and that's all that really matters!


What a show!! OMG see I'm so outta it I forgot to mention HUNGER STRIKE!! What a "holy shit" moment that was. DAMN! BRAD on vocals too?!!! I remember reading that it was gonna be Timmy. This band is SO full of surprises. Jesus! Sounded sooooo good. And once again, the mighty pipes are nailing every single note. :o {{SOUNDGARDEN}} songs too?! \m/ I can't get over it. We get everything! Ahhhh what an amazing time to be a fan I tell ya. :D

Before I go on about Chris, can I just tell you how freakin' awesome you are?! I love the passion that you speak with about everything, and everything you like, songs, and such, you just take the words out of my mouth! All the portions of the songs or songs in general I love as well. You are absolutely awesome! :D

On another note, all I can say is that everything, regardless of how his voice sounds, is absolutely perfect in it's own way. His voice has the ability to send those eerie chills down your spine, whether it be with those ear-splitting screams, or a low soothing voice. It is something fair few musicians can do. Everything he touches is gold, and his lyrics..either they be dripping with sarcasm; abstract; or seemingly straightforward, even though at the same time as complex and mind bending as ever, he never fails to amaze me. Chris is purely phenomenal in every which way. Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Solo, or Audioslave, he is always at his best.

CC : Thus far we have only done Soundgarden songs I wrote all the music for. That started out mainly because I thought it might feel a little weird. You can't replace Kim or Ben or Matt. I felt like if we're going to do a Soundgarden song I would prefer it be something I wrote because I feel closer to it and less like I am taking it out of the context of Soundgarden. At this point I feel like the fans as well as the ex-member of Soundgarden should feel like it is a tribute, because that's what it is really.

AMEN reeferchief !!! :o I second that! You know, I was meaning to post that beauty as well since it had not been done yet but you beat me to it. GOOD CALL my friend. This is one of those songs that just completely GETS ME. I mean, even saying it's title makes me emotional ya know? The song really, really digs deep. It's something we can all feel and relate to. Such a comforting and at the same time heartbreaking song. The emotion behind the mighty voice in this one is just beyond intense. These lyrics are some of the most gorgeous ones I have ever seen/heard/felt/experienced.

Loooove it! :D And I must agree with you that Down On The Upside does NOT get the praise it deserves. It honestly is the album that has grown on me the most. Ok, after searching for fuckin EVER for a SOUNDGARDEN thread the use to exist and having no luck, I thought I'd just come to the central Cornell headquaters to express my LOUD LOVE for the following song! :D Damn this badboy never fails to rock to bits. So oldschool & fierce as hell!! This is one of the nastiest riffs out there! UH! Fuckin Kim! The king of chunky riffs, the bad ass shred master. :D Chris and these piercing, powerful vocals too?! Ooh, I saw the boys two weeks ago, and let me tell you, I have never seen them in better shape! The energy being compacted and the way their passion was expressed in the performance..the way the music just swirls in your head..it sets you the fuck off! Once the music hits I'm gone, dancin like none other. They have the power, like a other bands, to really get you going. An amazing live performance they give and all you want is to give back and never let the night end. Ooh, and the Soundgarden and Rage..gah, I wish I could go see them again soon! Anything Chris has done has been absolute top-notch, but the way he is live, musically, talkative, etc. is uncomparable. Just proving to age like a fine wine in every aspect. AMAZING!

OK...I am just NOW recovering from these shows and must come post about them as promised reachdown12!! ;) Been sick as hell for the past week which I guess was my body's way of retaliating from the hell I put it through of 2 nights of back to back serious rockin.:p

Anyways, WOW...it was all over way too fast. What an experience though. Damn, where to begin?? Well...once again I completely stand by the belief that this band and this VOICE are just getting better and better each and every passing second. It's fuckin incredible!!

LONG BEACH! This entire experience was just surreal & this SET completely rocked my universe!!The SET and show experience made this night what it was...magic. :eek: It's too long of a story to tell but basically my group and I ended up catching the very end of soundcheck!!!!!!! AHHHH!! *explodes* I can't even explain this experience and still can't even believe it happenend. THANK YOU seems like such a understatement to the friend that hooked this up, but that's really all I can say at this point. DAMN! THANK..>YOU! The entire venue emptied and just US and the BAND...the VOICE?? :o Jesus!! We caught the last few songs (unreal!!)...the last one being just Chris and an acoustic guitar...he busted out FELL ON BLACK days!! I nearly collapsed. Damn! I was soooo hoping to hear this one again...in an AS atmosphere. Holy shit! :o He brought out Shaun from Seether to sing it with him and although I am NOT a fan of that voice or that band, he gets MAJOR props for this. He really did a surprisingly incredible job! While me and others kept trying to keep our cool it was also incredibly difficult to keep from grinning so much it hurt and squeezing the living shit outta each others hands while we watched/listened/felt in utter amazement. WOOOOOW! So that's how it all started!! I already knew the night was beyond blessed. Then the set...

SLAVES & BULLDOZERS!!! <~~~ OMG!! All jazzed out too?! UH! Talk about a serious highlight! SO BAD ASS! My god. Dream come true right here!

THE WORM <~~ wanted this one SO bad & hadn't heard it live yet. COMPLETELY KNOCKED ME ON MY ASS!!!!!! I can't even explain how much ASS this song kicks live but I'm pretty sure it's not a legal amount! All the more reason it felt soooo gooooood. DAAAAMN was it amazing!:eek:

FELL ON BLACK DAYS (Chris/Shaun acoustic)<~~~ :o :o Drop dead gorgeous!!!*chills* Really..this topped the charts.

REDEMPTION SONG <~~~ Oooh wow! This really knocked me out as well. Absolutely beeeeeautiful. No words can do it justice.

They also busted out a new song, being referred to as SOUND OF A GUN! Damn! This song kicked all kindsa ass too. Out of control solo!! Has me drooling even more for new album. Definitely another major highlight.


SO after the show we also got to chat TOM too which was another surreal, amazing experience. My group officially introduced us and he smiled at me and said "YOU...YOU were rockin out particullary hard tonight!!!" haha! What??! OMG that was too fuckin awesome! Getting props from the badass Morello himself! Again..WOW! :eek: He also gave us picks and setlists. Such a fuckin down the earth sweetheart. I swear he totally reminds me of the McCready of Audioslave. That man is the BEST!!! :D He also thought of us for Vegas and gave us a gift that, while it didnt take us where we thought it might, will last a lifetime and forever be cherised. Just the very fact that he thought of our group like that means SO MUCH and makes that shit beyond special. I'm still slappin myself over this!!! So yes...LB~WHAT A NIGHT! WHAT..>A NIGHT! That setllist, combined with ALL OF THAT, really made for one hell of an amazing experience. :D :o


Onto VEGAS! Twice is nice when it comes to this band and the holy voice! But damn...a fuckin radio-fest so of course the AS set was cut waaaaaay short and they only played "radio hits". VEGAS was very bittersweet. That's just the perfect word for it all around. That trip was for sure all about the PEOPLE to me. Reunited with dear friends and meeting new ones....and experiencing the show as one. Just beautiful. :) I will say one thing about the set that REALLY stood out was a super slow, super jazzed out tease of DAZED AND CONFUSED!!!! :eek: None of us could even make out what it was at first. I heard the lyrics but was just like WTF??? NO WAY!! :eek: But yep...the boys did a few verses of the mighty ZEP classic. Such an amazing "HOLY SHIT DID THAT HAPPEN?!" moment right there.

Even happier than the last time I saw him :), and ofcourse the pipes even more breathtaking. Apparently he had laryngitis too which completely blows my mind EVEN MORE! He sounded better than ever!! Being reunited with this voice always completes a part of me. :o

Amazing shows. Amazing group of welcoming, fun, generous people I was with. Amazing experiences. Amazing band.

Wow!! I can't even begin to tell ya how amazing these shows sounded, Vedhead!!! The soundcheck must have been nothing short of incredible. and having Fell On Black Days, Slaves and Bulldozers, The Worm AND Redemption song all in one show?! Inexplicable the aw that is expressed from hearing this! I thought the Philly was nothing short of Amazing, but hearing this just made me go into disbelief, the energy must have been phenomenal!

The show i went to was the first to hear the new song, and it was suuuuch a great rocker! I can't wait for the next album, which I know will heighten the bar even more and prove to be just as great as it's predecessors. And meeting Tom and the comment he made to you? wow, all in one night, I am quite surprised the Euphoria of all that happened wasn't enough to kill ya! lol!

I'm sooooo glad you experienced such an amazing night!! And Vegas, getting the Zeppelin tease?!! WOW! Not to mention one of my favorite songs from one of the most monumental bands to exist.

And Thank You for the video clips!! Those shows looked unbelieveably amazing and made me wish I could have been there rockin out next to you!! lol! This band has proven over these last few years, from a shaky start that may have never gotten the ignition going, to seeing them today, the chemistry and passion flowing that is almost suffocating to us all, and seeing them create music and a hope that there is still a flowering life in the soul of music, really makes me love them even more than I ever thought possible.

And the fact that Cornell, after all his pipes have been through, proves that he is even better than ever before. To know that he can pull off such amazing talent so perfectly, even while fighting sickness, is unfuckingbelieveable. And seeing them live..it sets you free..just having their music reverberating in your mind..those funky basslines from Timmy C, the pounding rhythm of the drums from Brad, to the Badass Morello playing ungodly creations or bluesy feel on the guitar to Cornell's passionate ridden vocals that never cease to amaze..it all comes into one. Them, the crowd, feeling just as passionate about the music, the music in itself..and you. It is so untterly incomprehensible, that even after, however many times you may experience it, you will never fully convey the emotions felt. Music has that power, and it is able to be expressed especially through them. It is quite the unity that if grasped by those who feel music's passion flowing through their veins will have an unconditional love for something so real, yet surreal forever more.

Sen, I agree that the pit was bad!! That's the only time I've ever been pulled out of an AS pit (been up fron for 13 shows). The back of my legs were black with 8 inch long bruises. One poor girl and a security guard got a cup of piss thrown on them. Bunch of college jocks there just to get drunk and fight.

Other than that, the show was still great. Hearing Chris sing "The Redemption" song and dedicating it to my other favorite AS member, Tom, was a real highlight.

Can't wait to do the whole thing over next year with you, Lydia!

I was, yet again, listening to the amazing workings of the compilation well-known as Badmotorfinger, and still, I cannot praise it enough!! The intensity of the chemistry flowing throughout Jesus Christ Pose, the screams, the Badass Kim Thayil himself shredding the opening to New Damage..I can't get enough! Yep, this is a unique, fierce, ass kickin sound that will forever live on. Kim Thayil is the MAN! These chunky riffs will forever rock my life! SUCH an undeniable BAD ASS. Badmotorfinger is beyond classic. Just like this voice, that album and SG ...the praise is never-ending. I was actually just bumpin them today myself. ;) Again, good call.

Sen, I agree that the pit was bad!! That's the only time I've ever been pulled out of an AS pit (been up fron for 13 shows). The back of my legs were black with 8 inch long bruises. One poor girl and a security guard got a cup of piss thrown on them. Bunch of college jocks there just to get drunk and fight.

I've been listening to my Soundgarden/Chris Cornell B-sides and demos, etc. and wow, effin amazing! Great covers and songs that never made albums..Come Together, Karaoke, Angel of Fire, Blind Dogs, Christi, Homicidal Suicidal, Into the Void, Ave Maria, Nowhere But You, Stolen Prayer, and so much more. They are all so incredible in their own way. If anyone ever comes across these songs, give em a listen, purely worth the time. Phenomenal. Once more I will say I can never praise Chris or this band so much. The praising shall always carry on. :D

What's up with the STRIPPED version though? With the still pics of Chris playing guitar and singing behind the real Chris playing guitar and singing?? :p Hey, not that there is such a thing as Cornell overload...I just thought it was kinda funny. :D Anyways, both versions of that song made me melt. It's just TOO beautiful. And Redemption Song?? Well that beauty moved me to tears. :o God damn Chris! You are just UNREAL! This voice is the only one that consistently attacks me like this. He talked about the vocal range issue and mentioned that he didn't really like singing in a high pitch - he only did so because he CAN! Three octaves in one song, haha. Show-off! :D
